I do not use black oil paint, I use a mixture; ultramarine blue and burnt umber as the equivalent of black. Equal amount of ultramarine blue and burnt umber creates a black, mixed with white, gives a medium temperature gray. If the amount of blue is increased the gray will shift to cool. If more umber is used the gray will be warmer.
